My Personal Circle Casting Chant

Circle cast
And circle bound
Contain my magick
All around.

Open veils
Between the realms
Create sacred space
Here where I dwell.

Casting the Circle

Using the wand, sword, athame or whatever feels comfortable, proceed deosil (clockwise) from North to North:

“I conjure thee, O Circle of Power, that thou beest a meeting place of love and joy and truth; a shield against all wickedness and evil; a boundary between the world of men and the realms of the Mighty Ones; a rampart and protection that shall preserve and contain the power that I shall raise within thee. Wherefore do I bless thee and consecrate thee, in the names of Cernunnos and Aradia.”

Or whatever God or Goddess you’re using).

To strengthen the Circle, now that it has been established through the power of Earth, the bowl of consecrated salt water is carried around the perimeter, sprinkled as you walk.

Next carry the smoking incense burner around the perimeter.

Finally, carry an altar candle around the Circle and return it to the altar with the other items.

Calling the Faeries to the Circle

“Dearest Faerie King and Queen,
My elfin mentors who are unseen,
To learn the magickal faerie art
Is the wish within my heart.”

*****

“Dear Faerie King and Queen,
Take me to the land of green,
To the realm where no one knows
Of the land of elves and trows.
Faerieland is not quite here,
Through the arch in another sphere.
An enchanted place,
Through time and space.
Take me away.
Be sure to bring me back today.
Blessed be.”

*****

“I claim the faerie priesthood.
With you I follow, pixie-led,
To use this gift for only good.
A magickal path to faerie tread.
Blessed be.”

Casting the Circle

“By the earth that is her body,

By the air that is her breath,

By the fire of her bright spirit,

And by the waters of her living womb,

The circle is cast.”

HedgeWitch Closing of the Circle

“Thanks be to the spirits of earth and sky;
Thou art released to thy natural form!
Peace with the gods
Peace with nature
Peace within.
Blessed be!”

Opening the Circle

Go to each of the four directions and draw a Banishing Pentacle.

“Guardians of the East, Powers of Air,
I thank you for joining in my circle
And I ask for your blessing as you depart.
May there be peace between us
Now and forever.
Blessed be.”

“Guardians of the South, Powers of Fire,
I thank you for joining in my circle
And I ask for your blessing as you depart.
May there be peace between us
Now and forever.
Blessed be.”

“Guardians of the West, Powers of Water,
I thank you for joining in my circle
And I ask for your blessing as you depart.
May there be peace between us
Now and forever.
Blessed be.”

“Guardians of the North, Powers of Earth,
I thank you for joining in my circle
And I ask for your blessing as you depart.
May there be peace between us
Now and forever.
Blessed be.”

Raise your athame to the sky and touch it to the earth, then open your arms and say:

“The circle is open, but unbroken,
May the peace of the Goddess
Go in our hearts,
Merry meet, and merry part.
And merry meet again.
Blessed be.”

Casting a Circle

Imagine a circle of light surrounding you. This light can be white, blue or purple. Circle the light around, above and below you in a clockwise direction, like the representation of an atom. Feel it as a sphere around you or as a cone of power. Remember to leave a “doorway” through which your magick energy may exit. Banish all evil and negative energy, forbidding anything harmful to enter your space. Remember, you are always safe within your circle if you command it to be so. You should feel warm and peaceful within your circle. You can also outline the perimeter if needed. Negative entities cannot cross a line of salt. Candles, crystals, cord, stones, flowers and incense can also be used to create a barrier.

“I consecrate this circle of power to the Ancient Goddess.
Here may she manifest and bless her child.
This is a time that is not a time,
A place that is not a place,
On a day that is not a day.
I stand at the threshold between the worlds,
Before the veil of Mysteries.
May the Ancient Ones help and
Protect me on my journey.
I call upon the power of Air to witness this rite and guard this circle.
I call upon the power of Fire to witness this rite and guard this circle.
I call upon the power of Water to witness this rite and guard this circle.
I call upon the power of Earth to witness this rite and guard this circle.
This circle is bound,
With powers all around,
Between the worlds, I stand
With protection at hand.
By the powers of the Ancient Goddess,
I bind all power within this circle,
Into this spell,
So mote it be.”
