My New Raven Pendant

Since Hecate is my favourite Goddess, I bought this beautiful pendant to remind me of her! (I just wish my camera wasn't giving me a hard time! :P The picture isn't very good!) I wrote this invocation to dedicate the charm in her honour. :)

I dedicate this amulet to you, Hecate,
Goddess of the Witches and Crossroads
In your guise of the Raven,
I shall honour thee.
Upon my breast,
I bare this charm.
Protect me and mine
From all harm.
To thee all roads will lead,
But allow me to remain here on earth
Until I've completed my deed.
Teach me your mysteries,
Expose me to your lessons
Embrace me as a Hidden Child,
To you, I wish a thousand blessings.
So mote it be.

Writer Talisman: A Ritual

Select a stone of your choice - it can be one with a writing correspondence, or simply one that you find pleasing. Cleanse the stone, then charge by placing it on your altar or under sun/moonlight for another 24 hours.

When you are ready to empower the talisman, dissolve some sea salt in a small bowl of water, and light a candle. Dip your fingertips into the sea salt water and anoint the stone as you repeat the following:

I bless this stone with water.
May the waters of inspiration flow through me!

I bless this stone with the salt of the earth.
May earth s constancy embolden me!

Now pass the stone above the candle flame as you repeat the following:

I bless this stone with air.
May air s transcendence blow through me!

I bless this stone with fire.
May the passions of fire inspire me!

Earth, air, fire, and water, now held within this stone.
May they gift me with energy and joy as I ply my craft.

Set the stone on your desk. Apply it to your crown chakra for inspiration.

Writer Charm

1) Begin with a 6 inch square of white fabric (the four sides represent the four elements).

2) On that fabric, place one or two pieces of citrine or hematite, a sprig of rosemary, and some fresh shavings from a pencil you write with.

3) Add a small piece of paper on which you’ve inscribed several stars. Recite the following:

Gathered here, within this square,
Signs of creative power.
Embolden thus my magick craft,
That I may write for hours.

4) Tie the fabric square shut and place it on your desk, or in the location that you do most of your writing. When you sit down to write, imagine that energy is pouring from the charm, ready to inspire your writing.

5) Each time you sit down to write, hold the charm in your hand and repeat the above rhyme. This will recharge the charm, allowing it to work indefinitely.

A Wishing Incantation

Place your written wish in front of you on your altar. Take a deep breath, and exhale slowly. Hold your hands over the wish, saying:

“Power of the east, winds of sacred birth
Gather all your force and bring desire to earth.
Power of the south, winds of hot creation
Separate the earth by fire, refine this incantation.
Power of the west, winds of down below
Bubble up to meet the sky and make the pattern so!
Power of the north, winds of sacred treasure
Solidify my own desire and formulate the measure!
Power of Spirit, winds of dusk and dawn
Align the planets in their places, words convey the song!
Power of myself, the winds of my demand
Thrice I speak to penetrate and bring about my plan!”

Clearly speak your desire three times.

Burn your wish paper in your cauldron.

Let the ashes loose upon the wind so that the Elementals can grasp your wish properly.

Spell: To Bind an Enemy

Cast a circle.

Light a black candle. Burn incense of Saturn.

Sprinkle your poppet with salt water.

“Blessed be, thou creature made of art. By art made, by art changed. Thou art not wax (cloth, etc), but flesh and blood. I name thee _____. Thou art s/he, between the worlds, in all the worlds. So mote it be.”

Hold the poppet in your hands. Visualize a silver net falling over it, and binding the person it represents.

Take a red ribbon and wrap it around the poppet, tying it firmly, and binding all parts of the body that could conceivably harm others. Charge the binding with power.

“By air and earth,
By water and fire,
So be you bound,
As I desire.
By three and nine,
Your power I bind.
By moon and sun,
My will be done.
Sky and sea,
Keep harm from me.
Cord go round,
Power be bound,
Light revealed,
Now be sealed.

Earth the power.

Open the circle.

Bury the poppet during a waning moon, far from home, under a heavy rock.

Lesson: To Charge an Herbal Charm

Assemble all your materials on your altar.

Cast a circle.

Light a candle of an appropriate colour. If you wish, burn incense.

Raise energy.

In mortar and pestle, grind together all the herbs for your charm. Visualize the image or emotion you desire, and project it into the herbs as you grind them together. Draw or create any other symbols you may wish.

Gather together the herbs and other objects into the cloth. Twist the top around them and tie it once with thread.

Breathe on the charm and charge it with Air.

Pass it through the candle flame, and charge it with Fire.

Sprinkle a few drops of water on it, and charge it with Water.

Dip it into salt, or touch it to your pentacle, and charge it with Earth.

Hold it in your hands, breathe on it, and charge it fully with all the energy you can rasise, concentrating on your visualization.

Drop to the ground, relax, and earth the power.

Bind the spell, tying it as you do so.

Open the circle.

Lesson: Binding a Spell

When you have finished casting a spell, visualize yourself tying a knot in a cord wrapped around the symbol or image on which you have focused. Tell yourself you are setting the form of the spell, as a clay pot is set when it is fired.

“By all the power
Of three times three,
This spell bound around
Shall be.
To cause no harm,
Nor return on me.
As I do will,
So mote it be!”

The Imbolc Vow

The Wheel turns again and Spring returns.
Warmer's the rain; Sun brighter burns.
The daring sprout its thrusts does make;
And I, devout, so undertake.
From the belly, from the mind,
Imbolc's spell as a vow shall bind.
What once I sought I now shall bring,
And make, from thought, a certain thing.

A Declaration of Rebirth

I have been into the darkness,
and now return to light.
I relied on inner vision
when I had no mortal sight.
I returned unto the Mother
and did not feel forlorn.
I have braved the womb of Death,
and now I am reborn.

A Bedtime Blessing

In the still of the night
While the world around me sleeps
May the angels smile upon me
And the Lady bring me peace.

A Guiding Charm

Great Spirit, show me the way
to walk with the light, to dance the stones
to receive visions at night, and know I'm never alone
to reach for the stars, with a wish in one hand
to reach for the Earth, and help heal our land
to follow my bliss, to live happy and free,
Great Spirit show me that the magick is me
so mote it be.
