Spell: Protection Shield

1) Get into your magickal mindset.

2) Be aware of your energy field, the space around your body at about an arm’s length. Feel your energy field like an egg or sphere around your whole body.

3) Visualize the edge of the energy field becoming like a faceted crystal. It is clear like quartz or diamond, and hard, strong, and protective. Let the light of your mind reflect in the dazzling facets of the gem. The crystal surrounds you, above and below.

4) Hold the intention of protection from all harm in your mind. The shield will protect you from all harm. It blocks harmful energy and allows in the energy you need for your highest good.

“I charge my protection shield to protect me from all harm on any level, and reflect love back on the source of the harm.”

5) Repeat the process as many times as you would like and hold the image. When done, let the image fade from your mind when it starts to wander. You can continue on to other meditations, or end your session.

Tree Meditation

1) Get into your magickal mindset.

2) In your mind’s eye, invite the image of a deciduous tree to appear, such as an oak or maple. You are seeking a tree that sheds its leaves in the winter. Feel it take form on your screen.

3) Project your consciousness into the tree. Become one with the tree.

4) The season is spring. Feel the warm Sun shine down upon you. The energy of the Sun awakens you to the world. Feel your sap moving through the main trunk. Feel the rain of the early spring showers. Absorb the nutrients and minerals in the soil beneath you. The soil is fresh from all the decaying leaves of winter. Feel the spark of life rejuvenate within you. Feel the buds form at the end of your branches and grow into small leaves.

5) Spring moves into summer as the Sun’s light grows brighter and warmer. The light of the Sun activates your cells, transforming light and carbon dioxide into your food. Feel your leaves grow bigger and greener. Feel yourself release oxygen, providing for all the living animals around you. Feel the birds within your branches and the insects crawling around your bark. None cause you any harm. This is exactly as it should be.

6) Summer changes to fall as the Sun’s light cools down. The days are still warm, but your energy has peaked. Your sap is running a bit slower. Your leaves are starting to wilt and change colour. Feel the rainbow of colours in your leaves. Notice that there are not as many birds around, but the squirrels are diligently busy collecting acorns. You may be making your seeds, acorns perhaps, and preparing to release them. Your leaves and seeds fall to the ground, and your branches are becoming bare once more.

7) Fall shifts into winter as the Sun seems to hide behind the clouds. Everything slows down. You move slower. The world seems to move slower. The air grows colder and you find yourself slipping into a deeper and deeper sleep, a hibernation. You await the spring.

8) Project your consciousness out of the tree, back through the magickal screen and into your body. As the Sun, water, and Earth all have an effect on the tree, aiding in its changes and growth, realize that your own changes and growth are the effects from many different sources in your life.

9) Return yourself to normal consciousness, counting up, and giving yourself clearance, and balance. Do any necessary grounding.

Spell: The Indrinking

* This is meant for self-acceptance when you’ve made a mistake or are filled with guilt or regrets.

Cast a circle.

Sit facing North, and light a black or white candle.

Hold in both hands your chalice, filled with clear water. You should have before you an image of the Goddess and a green plant, in earth.

Visualize all the negative things you are feeling about yourself, the mistakes you have made, the things you have done wrong. Talk to yourself about admit you feel bad. Tell yourself, out loud, exactly what you have done wrong, and why. Let your emotion build energy, and project it all into the cup. Breathe on the water.

Raise power.

Visualize the Goddess as forgiving Mother. Imagine her hands cover yours. Hear Her say:
“I am the Mother of all things,
My love is poured out upon the earth.
I drink you in with perfect love,
Be cleansed. Be healed. Be changed.”

Pour out the water onto the plant, and feel your self-hate draining out of you.
(It is possible this ritual will kill the plant).

Fill the cup with milk or juice.

Raise more power, and visualize yourself as you would like to be, free of guilt and sorrow, changed so that you will not repeat the same errors. Charge the cup with strength and the power to be the person you want to be.

Again, visualize the Goddess. Her hands cover yours, and She says:
“Mine the cup, and Mine the waters of life.
Drink deep!”

Drink the juice or milk. Feel yourself filled with strength. Know that you have changed, that you are, from that very moment, a new person, not bound by the patterns and errors of the past.

Bind the spell.

Earth the power.

Open the circle.

Spell: For Loneliness

Cast the circle.

Raise energy.

Sit facing North and light a grey candle.

In a mortar and pestle, grind a shark’s tooth (or other sharp bone) to powder.

“You
Have no bones
And never sleep.
You
Swim always
Within me.”

Allow loneliness to fill you and project it into the powder.

“Now be gone!”

Release the feeling into the powder.

Spit three times into the powder and burn it in a brass bowl, with aloes, nettles, and thorns.

Douse the fire with salt water.

Earth the power.

Bind the spell.

Release the circle.

You will feel light of heart and free of loneliness.

Spell: To Bind an Enemy

Cast a circle.

Light a black candle. Burn incense of Saturn.

Sprinkle your poppet with salt water.

“Blessed be, thou creature made of art. By art made, by art changed. Thou art not wax (cloth, etc), but flesh and blood. I name thee _____. Thou art s/he, between the worlds, in all the worlds. So mote it be.”

Hold the poppet in your hands. Visualize a silver net falling over it, and binding the person it represents.

Take a red ribbon and wrap it around the poppet, tying it firmly, and binding all parts of the body that could conceivably harm others. Charge the binding with power.

“By air and earth,
By water and fire,
So be you bound,
As I desire.
By three and nine,
Your power I bind.
By moon and sun,
My will be done.
Sky and sea,
Keep harm from me.
Cord go round,
Power be bound,
Light revealed,
Now be sealed.

Earth the power.

Open the circle.

Bury the poppet during a waning moon, far from home, under a heavy rock.

Lesson: To Charge an Herbal Charm

Assemble all your materials on your altar.

Cast a circle.

Light a candle of an appropriate colour. If you wish, burn incense.

Raise energy.

In mortar and pestle, grind together all the herbs for your charm. Visualize the image or emotion you desire, and project it into the herbs as you grind them together. Draw or create any other symbols you may wish.

Gather together the herbs and other objects into the cloth. Twist the top around them and tie it once with thread.

Breathe on the charm and charge it with Air.

Pass it through the candle flame, and charge it with Fire.

Sprinkle a few drops of water on it, and charge it with Water.

Dip it into salt, or touch it to your pentacle, and charge it with Earth.

Hold it in your hands, breathe on it, and charge it fully with all the energy you can rasise, concentrating on your visualization.

Drop to the ground, relax, and earth the power.

Bind the spell, tying it as you do so.

Open the circle.

Lesson: Binding a Spell

When you have finished casting a spell, visualize yourself tying a knot in a cord wrapped around the symbol or image on which you have focused. Tell yourself you are setting the form of the spell, as a clay pot is set when it is fired.

“By all the power
Of three times three,
This spell bound around
Shall be.
To cause no harm,
Nor return on me.
As I do will,
So mote it be!”
